Deep in the Perigord Vert, hidden in a small valley just outside the village of Busserolles is the estate of Chez Bigot (the ‘t’ is silent!), a small Chateau built in the 1600’s and once a forge supplying cannonballs for the Napoleonic wars.

The buildings have been extensively restored to provide the owners main residency, two independent luxurious cottages and a hidden away Cabin in the Woods, within the twenty acres of pasture and woodland. The grounds are bordered on three sides by the river Trieux.

The Guardian's Cottage originally housed the caretakers family and has now been converted into a charming 2 bed-roomed Gite with en-suites, providing luxury accommodation for those wanting to relax from the day to day stresses of modern life.

Set in its own grounds is River View cottage. Once the bread oven and bakery of the estate, it now offers two en-suite bedrooms, lovely views to the river with plenty of bathing opportunities and lots of space to unwind.

Recently added to each cottage are the eco friendly swimming pools, boasting salt water and air sourced heat pumps.  You have your own pool for the duration of your stay - no need to share with other guests!

And new for 2024, a cosy 'Cabin in the Woods', comprising a traditional Sheherds Hut with bedroom and living space with a seperate kitchen and shower/toilet room, all eco friendly, hidden in the woods for those that want to get closer to nature.

Guests can also explore the twenty acres of meadows, woods and river. In the summer, the river provides a perfect adventure area for young and old alike. Walk the river path through the dappled wood, look for crayfish and mussels in the shallows and splash about in the deeper pools. Rarely does the river exceed waist deep and the abundance of birds and fish provide hours of distraction. Picnic benches are dotted about, so take your pick. Help feed the lambs, ducks and chickens.
