Busserolles and Bussiere Badil
Chez Bigot borders two communes, namely Busserolles (15 mins walk) and Bussiere Badil (25 mins walk) and their respective villages.
Busserolles boasts a wonderful bakery with the bread baked in a traditional wood fired oven. There is a popular bar/restaurant (Bistrot Vue de Puit) serving simple food with its popular Fish & Chips on a Friday night and a Post Office. The bar has seating at the front for watching the locals go about their business and a larger terrace at the back.
There is also a wonderful and very safe bathing/paddling lake and playground, especially suited to the younger visitors (it is only 3 feet deep with sandy edges, enticing streams through the woods and plenty of dragonflies, frogs and minnows to keep the young ones amused) as well as a petanque/boules zone if you fancy challenging the locals. The open air tennis court is rarely used and we can help you to book it.
Bussiere Badil also has another wonderful bakery, a small supermarket and butchers (very good) with another post office! It also plays host to the Palace Vert, where one can go 10 pin bowling, play air hockey and billiards with a bar and snacks served (link in 'Things to Do' section).
Both villages act as the starting point for several well marked walking routes (see the Walking and Cycling section) and host several Fetes, special markets and fireworks through the year. Both villages have their own 11th Century Churches open during the year and in the summer months occasionally host live music evenings.
